Janice A. Sitton
I moved to San Francisco, California from Asheville, North Carolina in the summer of 2006 to pursue an interest in resource management and waste reduction. In the spring of 2007, I realized that this topic was not only an interest, but my passion. I started reading everything I could about recycling and the resource recovery industry. For over a month, my dreams were filled with images of recycling and waste. It was very odd dreaming about waste, but I just could not stop thinking about it; how much of it there is, and how little is really waste. So, I created Good Green Graces to dedicate all my energy to recycling, composting and waste reduction related work. I operated my business for just over a year, and then accepted a full time position as Zero Waste Event Specialist with the City of San Jose in June 2008 where I am currently employed.
I have over ten years of professional experience in project and event management, and have over four years experience in waste diversion for special events. I served as the editor of the NCRA News and as Vice President and Treasurer for the Northern California Recycling Association, and spent many hours following environmental policy at San Francisco’s City Hall. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
